Pertinence Suite powered by Velocity

The drive to Operational Excellence has never been stronger. Sustaining continuous improvement and achieving world-class performance benchmarks are no longer optional: they are essential to staying in business.

Pertinence Suite is the first true end-to-end manufacturing operations solution developed with Operational Excellence in mind. The Suite supports all Lean, Six Sigma and other process initiatives implemented throughout the world. From simplified process planning and advanced predictive analysis to best-in-industry process execution and quality management, the Pertinence Suite helps customers reach their operational goals in a very short time.

The Pertinence Suite

Process Planning (PP)
Pertinence Suite's planning and process design tool quickly assembles all data necessary into planning templates or authoritative process documentation to be executed in a paperless environment. These templates include all supported objects such as work instructions, graphics, buyoffs, bill of materials and tooling. The module utilizes process libraries for the capture and re-use of best practices to minimize effort in authoring and maintaining templates.

Process Rules Discovery (PRD)
Based on historical data, Process Rules Discovery uses patented pattern-recognition technology to extract from a set of process and product characteristics whose combinations have been successful or could generate quality defects.   These best operational practices and risk situations will be displayed in laymen’s terms facilitating communication across the company to the shop floor.

Process Execution (PE)
Developed for mission-critical advanced manufacturing, Pertinence Suite's Process Execution module puts you in control of the process. While providing real-time visibility of the shop floor, the system enforces complete procedural control of data collection, buy-offs, employee certification and a complete record of the as-built history in accordance with all industry and governmental regulations. Real time WIP status empowers shop floor operators to avoid bottlenecks, part shortages and other issues that affect a predictable process, consistent product quality or on-time delivery.

DNC Now Available Within Process Execution
Intercim’s DNC (Distributed Numerical Control) capabilities have long brought complete, accurate and enforceable control over NC programs and set-up information for machine tools. Intercim can receive, store and manage the life cycle of NC programs. For each fabrication operation, planner or technician is automatically provided with a short list of available machines that can execute the NC program. The program can be sent to the selected machine in only one click. Then when the machine completes the operation, result is received and stored in the as-built record of fabricated part(s)

Digital Work Instruction Player (DPV)
For an operator, 3D work instructions are the most effective way to describe complex and highly configured operations. The Digital Work Instruction Player (DPV) is an out of the box solution that displays inside Intercim’s Process Execution 3D instructions, imported from Delmia. DPV displays for the operator a 3D view that is synchronized with work in progress, and shows in 3D the current status of the operation, such as where a new part will fit and highlighting missing parts that are not yet available. As a result, the instructions are easier to understand, saving the operators time that they can spend on value added tasks.

Operations Advisor (OA)
Utilizing pattern recognition technology on the shop floor, the Operations Advisor Dashboard warns operators that a risk has been identified and, based on best operational practices and risk situations, proposes preventative or rectifying action. This real-time system monitors and analyzes the risk of quality defects and alerts the operator of the issue while there's still time to act. The dashboard not only reduces the opportunity to make the same mistake twice, it increases the chances of getting it right the first time.

Emergent Process Management (EPM)
EPM is a configurable process workflow engine that allows disposition of any unexpected product or process event. Anomalies, defects or nonconformances detected anywhere in the supply chain will launch alternative process flows that guide engineering, quality or shop floor personnel to quick resolution or corrective action. The system is also used outside the quality arena to track experimental parts, document approval or other non-standard processes. All data is recorded and archived, providing complete traceability to meet regulatory compliance.

Performance Tracker (PT)
Displayed in a dashboard format, Performance Tracker aligns best operational practices with actual production metrics and alerts users of any drifts or inconsistencies. This reporting and ad-hoc data search capability provides access to system-wide trends and analysis such as first pass yield, cycle time, labor rollups, material genealogy or other views of the manufacturing process. Performance Tracker can be used as a standalone solution or can be embedded in an existing ERP manufacturing dashboard.

Production Unit Live Collaboration (ULC)
Unit Live Collaboration (ULC) gives managers and quality engineers fast, accurate, and easy to assimilate data. It provides 3D visibility on ongoing production activities for anything from one specific production unit or up to continuous, and more complicated, subassemblies. By offering live visibility on installed, on hold and missing parts, the production, quality and engineering teams can collaborate to make production decisions more rapidly. This leads to quick and correct decision making while keeping production on – or even ahead of – schedule.

The Velocity Core
The Velocity Core is the backbone of Pertinence Suite and the foundation for all business rule logic and data sharing. In addition to housing the administrative functions, data storage and security for the entire suite, this transactional layer allows the Suite's modules to communicate with each other.

Digital Process Integrator (DPI)
A tight integration between virtual design and manufacturing reality is essential need in today’s manufacturing world. The Digital Process Integrator (DPI) is an out of the box solution that connects the Process Planning and 3D Work Instructions capabilities from Dassault Systemes with Pertinence Suite’s Process Execution module. DPI lowers the cost of MES deployment by automating the generation of 3D-based shop orders. It can also be configured to support shop order creation based on demand from most ERP systems, and can be easily configured to meet the unique demands of each customer.

Advanced Integrated Service
Intercim's Advanced Integration Services (AIS) is a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) built for easy integration of Pertinence Suite to other, complementary applications. The system can accept upstream data, for example, from engineering or a PLM application, as well as output valuable data to downstream systems, such as an ERP suite. AIS is XML-based and compliant with data exchange standards such as ISA-95 and ISA-88. The AIS layer delivers innovative business services in a truly flexible, easily integrated and mobile IT infrastructure.
