Fabrication & Composite Manufacturing - Operations

Your Situation

Paper-based manufacturing systems are proven to be less efficient, less accurate and more costly; any of which can cripple an operation. Take accuracy…what's it worth?
Some costly quotes:

  • "There's a hold on the next operation. I'll just skip a couple steps so I don't lose any time."
  • "Was I supposed to have some kind of training to do this?"
  • "I don't have time to collect all that data, who needs it anyway?"

Intercim's answer

The Pertinence Suite Process Execution module prohibits circumventing the process or performing work out of sequence. It won't allow work to be performed by an unauthorized technician. And, it provides a complete as-built record to comply with government or other regulators.

"Can't fail" procedural control ensures that both process and product result in on time delivery of a quality, compliant product. It eliminates the need for post manufacture auditing. That's worth a lot.

Your Situation

3D-powered work instructions and electronic data collection
Shop floor operators don't like spending time doing non-added value work or collecting data. The Pertinence Suite's Process Execution module is key to eliminating both.

Intercim's answer

Real time data collection by the Pertinence Suite Process Execution module ensures all materials, environmental conditions and processes are within specification during the build process. Whether data is collected using DNC from automated machine tools or entered on the shop floor, it serves as the foundation of all manufacturing intelligence and operations management, including Lean, Six-Sigma and other continuous improvement efforts. Archived in the systems' Velocity Core, the Suite provides a complete and traceable history of the product build making it easy to comply with government or industry regulations.

Using the Pertinence Suite, operators access online the right instruction at the right time, enriched with 3D and packages of all necessary documents for a given task or procedure. Critical information is always under control and configuration management becomes easy. Process after process, electronic buyoffs ensure proper execution while hundreds of parameters including for example raw material, chemical composition, storage time, outlife, clean room conditions, tools, molds and cure profiles are automatically recorded.

Process data is also used by the Suite's Process Rule Discovery module in assessing risk and creating best operational practices. As-Build data is matched in real-time versus risk patterns and best practices in the Suite's Operations Advisor Dashboard and Performance Tracker analytics.

Your situation

An ordinary batch and everything is proceeding normally. At checkpoint #1, you receive an alert from the Operations Advisor Dashboard advising of an imminent quality risk. Using Operations Advisor Dashboard, you know that the characteristics of the raw materials in current production, although within specification, have a history: if processed further down in some otherwise harmless manner, the track record has been 100% defects. It is early enough in the process to see it coming and take actions before it is too late. Operations Advisor gives you access to the most effective preventive scenario under the current conditions. With real time risk reduction, you know what to do.

Intercim's answer

While in production, the Operations Advisor Dashboard allows quick and easy detection of a quality risk before the combination of conditions becomes irreversible. Unlike other systems that require modifications of control limits in the process, Operations Advisor uses on demand or event driven adjustments inside the existing control range.

Intercim's Pattern-Matching Process Control® capability provides both preventive and corrective action, warning operators or production line managers that a risk has been identified and, based on best operational practices and past experience, proposes adjustments. The risk of failing for recurring reasons is virtually eliminated, reducing cost of poor quality.
