While most planning systems require complex authoring and approval cycles, the Pertinence Suite Process Planning module allows planners to quickly create and release plans when time-to-execution is critical. Historical assembly data shows that when using components from either Supplier A or Supplier B exclusively, the results are consistently good. Data also shows that when mixing components from Supplier A with those from Supplier B, quality results are often poor.

When data was analyzed using the Pertinence Suite, it was discovered that all Supplier A components were on the high side of acceptable tolerance. Supplier B components, although within published specifications, were consistently on the low side. Mixing components from each supplier introduced tolerance stack-up that frequently resulted in failed acceptance tests. A rule was created in the Process Rules Discovery module that will alert operators if that combination of characteristics is repeated in the future.
