Jean Michel Bardot

Jean-Michel Bardot has a 37 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry .

As an engineer, he joined the Aircraft Division of the French company "Aerospatiale" in 1970 .

In march 2007, he retired from EADS, where he was Vice President of Quality in the Paris HQ . After his first 5 years in Engineering for civil aircraft , his following 15 years were dedicated to manufacturing , in the 2 Aerospatiale (now Airbus) plants of Saint -Nazaire and Nantes , where he developed the first significant composite components for the Mirage 2000 fighter (vertical fin) , ATR 72 commuter (wing) and Airbus family (ailerons , center wing box) . This composite orientation helped his nomination as Managing Director of Corse Composites Aeronautiques , an affiliate of Aerospatiale , in 1992 . After 5 years, he was appointed as CEO of REVIMA , another affiliate of Aerospatiale , in charge of the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul of aircraft engines , landing gear and APUs . At the creation of EADS, in 2000 , he was called in the Paris HQ to bring some operational experience in the central functions. He then became the Vice President of Quality of the Group for his last 5 years in office. Outside of EADS, J M Bardot was an active member of the IAQG (International Aerospace Quality Group) and a significant player in the Aerospace Standardization circles in Europe (CEN , European Defence Agency ) and globally (NATO , SAE).

He is now a consultant (JIMBAR Conseil).



Alain Cruset

Alain Cruset was, until his early retirement in January 2001, Vice-President for Industrial Technologies and Industrial Operations at Aventis Pharma. He had responsibility for Engineering, Process Excellence, and Technology Transfer between R&D and Industrial Operations worldwide.

During previous assignments with DOW, Marion Merrell Dow and then Hoechst Marion Roussel, he was the Site Manager for both Active Ingredients sites and Drug Products sites, in France and in Italy. Cruset is a Director on the International Board of the ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering), a former Secretary and Founder of the French affiliate and has been a member of this organization since 1990.

Mr. Cruset holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the Strasbourg based Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie and a PhD from the University of Strasbourg.



Alain Dupas

Alain Dupas is an international expert in space technologies, industries and policies as well as in defense and information technology strategies.

Mr. Dupas trained as a physicist and in 1977 he was awarded a Doctorat d'Etat from Université Paris-XI/Orsay. He is one of the founders of post-graduate multidisciplinary teaching at Université de Versailles-St Quentin en Yvelines ("Diplôme d'études supérieures approfondies" - DESS - on Strategic System Analysis) where he is currently researching and teaching courses on "Relationships between Strategies and Technologies" and on "Methodologies for System Analysis". He is still a Fellow of the Space Policy Institute at the George Washington University (Washington D.C.) and since May 2000 he has been Senior Advisor for Aerospace to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

In 1987 Mr. Dupas was one of the founders of a new "think tank" called CREST-Ecole Polytechnique (Center for Research on Relationships between Strategies and Technologies of Ecole Polytechnique) and as part of his work he created a center of excellence in aerospace strategies and the impact of new technologies on security. He was Scientific and Technical Director of CREST between 1987 and 1993. Since then he has worked as an expert for many organizations and companies (Aerospatiale and later EADS, SEP, EC, ESA, etc). He is now pursuing his activities as Director of Strategic Studies at the College de Polytechnique in Paris.



Philip A. Dur

Philip Dur has over 20 years experience in naval operations, defense strategy, and program management. He is currently both the Visiting Professor of Economic Development at the University of Southern Mississippi and an Independent Consultant specializing in Supply Chain for the US
Shipbuilding Industry.

Until January 2006, he was a Vice President of Northrop Grumman Corporation and the President of the Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Sector in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Prior to this assignment, he served as a Vice President of the Northrop Grumman Electronics Systems Sector in Baltimore, MD. Before joining Northrop Grumman, he held positions with Tenneco Corporation, including, Vice President for Worldwide Business Development and Strategy at Tenneco Automotive in Lake Forest, Illinois, Executive Vice President of Walker-Gillet Europe (Edenkoben, Germany), and as a Corporate Vice President for Operations Development at Tenneco Corporate Headquarters in Houston, Texas. Prior to his corporate career, Dr. Dur served in the US Navy for thirty years attaining the rank of Rear Admiral at the age of forty three. In the course of his naval career, Admiral Dur served as the Commanding Officer of the USS Comte de Grasse (DD-974), Commanding Officer of the USS Yorktown (CG-48), Commander of the Battle Force, United States SIXTH Fleet, Director of Political Military Affairs for the National Security Council during the Reagan Administration, Military Assistant to the President's Special Envoys to the Middle East, Director of the Navy Strategy Division, United States Defense Attaché to France, and as Executive Assistant and Senior Naval Aide to the Secretary of the Navy.

Among his numerous military and academic awards are the French Ordre Nationale du Merite (Commander), the Defense Distinguished Service medal, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Harvard University Littauer Fellow award. He is a member of the French Academie de Marine, is in the Defense Attaché Hall of Fame, and has a Silver Medal from the U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings. He is multilingual and has 17 years of residence abroad in Europe and Japan. Admiral Dur earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Economy and Government, and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He holds a Master of Arts in Soviet & European Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame.



Jeff Hoffman

A former astronaut, Jeff Hoffmann has over 30 years experience in astronautics, aeronautics, and aero-physics.

Selected by NASA in January 1978, Dr. Hoffman became an astronaut in August 1979. He made his first space flight in 1985, when he participated in an attempted rescue of a malfunctioning satellite. On further flights he worked on an ultraviolet astronomy laboratory, a free-flying space platform, the Hubble Space Telescope, and the Tethered Satellite System. With the completion of his fifth and final space flight in 1996, Dr. Hoffman logged more than 1,211 hours and 21.5 million miles in space.

Dr. Hoffman left the astronaut program in July 1997 to become NASA's European Representative in Paris, where he served until August 2001. His principle duties were to keep NASA and NASA's European partners informed about each other's activities, try to resolve problems in US-European cooperative space projects, search for new areas of US-European space cooperation, and represent NASA in European media. In August 2001, Dr. Hoffman was seconded by NASA to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is a Professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is engaged in several research projects using the International Space Station and teaches courses on space operations and design.

He is a member of numerous organizations, including the International Academy of Astronautics; the International Astronomical Union; the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics; the American Astronomical Society; the Spanish Academy of Engineering; Phi Beta Kappa; and Sigma Xi. Among other awards, he received NASA Space Flight Medals in 1985, 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1996, NASA Exceptional Service Medals in 1988 and 1992, and NASA Distinguished Service Medals in 1994 and 1997.

Dr. Hoffman holds a PhD in Astrophysics from Harvard University, a Master's Degree in Materials Science from Rice University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Astronomy from Amherst College.



Jacques Leger

Jacques Léger is currently President of CVC-Consulting. For 15 years he was the General Manager of the Transmission branch at Valeo. Prior to his promotion, Jacques was the Financial Director for 10 years. Fond of Japanese management techniques, Jacques was also a member of General Management at the CarnaudMetalbox group, the leading packaging company in Europe and was Industrial Director at the Alstom group. Mr. Leger has a degree in Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées in Lyon and an MBA from the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises in Paris.



Ger Schonk

Ger Schonk has over 30 years experience working in the semiconductor industry.

Throughout his career with Philips Semiconductors, Mr. Schonk worked in the countries as diverse as the Netherlands, the United States, and Singapore. Mr. Schonk began working on semiconductors in the Netherlands, where he spent most of his career. Mr. Schonk held various management positions before becoming the General Manager for Special Solid State Products in 1985. In 1989, he shifted to the General Manager of the CMOS Logic Product Group. In 1992 he became the VP and General Manager of the Logic Product Group.

In 1995 he moved to the United States, where he was responsible for merging the CMOS logic group in the Netherlands with the Bipolar logic group in Sunnyvale. The merger was very successful: sales improved from 170M$ to 350M$ with 25% profit in 1996. The same year he became the Vice President of ATO (Assembly and Test Organization). The success of ATO was recognized by receiving the prestigious Philips Business Excellence Silver award from Philips President, Mr. Kleisterlee. Mr. Schonk's last, and final, promotion was to CEO of ATO. He retired in October 2005.

He holds a Master's Degree in Experimental Physics from the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacology from the University of California, San Francisco, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship there as well. He also has a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California.
